Enjoy the Benefits of Water Filtration and UV Light

Discover the cutting-edge technology that powers UV Water Systems' advanced filtration products. Our systems utilise state-of-the-art, NSF Certified UV technology to effectively eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses from your water, ensuring clean and safe drinking water for your home or business.

Effective UV Treatment for Safe, Clean Water

The right system for you may have either 1, 2, 3 or 4 filters. The purpose of the filtration is two fold - to improve the quality of your water and to improve the clarity of the water so that the UV light can effectively sterilise the 'living nasties'. Cartridges trap contaminants either on the 'surface' of the filter material or within the 'depth' of the filter material. Here’s how it works.

  • The First Filter

On the left as you look at a 3 filter system.

Filter sets are tested to last 12 months. If your filters are not lasting 9 to 12 months then that is because the water quality entering your system is not good enough. You will need to address things like, overhanging trees, dirty roof, gutters and water storage tanks. Heavy rain down pours will wash sediment around in your tank and get pulled through the filters which will remove the sediment but block more quickly. I am often asked for less dense filters to increase flow but all this does is open up the system to allow more contaminants through for you to consume. These certified filters are a tested drinking water set and setup to give you a high level of filtered bacteria free drinking water.

This first 5 Micron Pleated paper filter is to remove sands, sediment and broken down leaves. This filter can be cleaned with an outside spray to help with flow every few months but once the filter pores are blocked the water will not pass through the filter and it will need to be changed typically every 12 months.

  • The Second Filter

This is a 5 Micron coconut carbon filter for taste, smell and discolouration. The filter will also help to remove sprays that may get on your roof or collection area. This filter is placed in the middle because it needs protection. If it does not have a filter before it like the 5 Micron pleated paper filter it will clog with sediment and will not work for more than a few weeks.

  • The Third Filter

This is a 1 Micron Melt Blown filter. A little like a dense toilet roll. This is a polishing filter and also removes any fine dust released by the carbon. Even material certified and tested carbon filters can leach a small amount of carbon dust which this filter will remove along with and other 1 micron floating matter.

About Us

Water Sterilisation Process

Effective UV treatment for Safe, Clean and Pure water

  1. When the water has passed through the correct pre filtration it will be clean and clear and not turbid as it enters the UV chamber.
  2. The UV chamber has to be of the correct width and length (small chambers do not correctly sterilise water especially when not pre filtered properly).
  3. Suspended in the UV chamber is a quartz sleeve. This is sealed at both ends to keep the inside dry where the UV lamp sits.
  4. The chamber inlet in our systems is offset to promote water spiralling around the quartz/lamp and encouraging agitation. This results in better exposure of UV light through the water.
  5. The water entering at one end and exiting at the other is called “one pass”. With drinking water unlike recirculated swimming pool water, sterilisation has to occur in “One Pass”.
  6. This “One Pass” relates to exposure time. The formula which has to be correct to allow sterilisation in one pass is governed by
    (a) Water Turbidity/ Clarity, dictated by correct filtration
    (b) Water flow controlled by design
    (c) Length and width of the UV chamber and Offset
    (d) Wattage of the UV Lamp in the chamber
  7. Get any of the above wrong and the water will pass through the chamber and not be exposed for long enough to sterilise and bacteria present. So in short throwing a couple of filters and chamber together will not necessarily work. When offered a solution from a plumber ask for the independent testing data to show that the system you are spending your hard earned money on will actually work.
